Hatred of Gov. Scott Walker runs deep among Wisconsin “progressives,” particularly those in public education who are upset over his initiatives cutting their union perks and increasing the amount of taxpayer dollars spent to actually benefit students.
Still, one would hope that even progressives afflicted by “Walker Derangement Syndrome” — who, for example, argue that Walker is “worse than Jeffrey Dalmer!” — would honor the rule that children in a politician’s family are off limits, no matter how hated the politician.
But one would be wrong, at least regarding Wisconsin’s most attention-seeking, but least intellectually able, progressives — to coin a phrase, “Special Needs” Progressives.
Debbie Hosking
Meet Debbie Hosking (full name, Deborah L. Hosking), a Madison-area leftist who not only signed the petition seeking to recall Gov. Walker, but volunteered as a circulator to collect signatures from others.
While perusing Gov. Walker’s Facebook page, recently Hosking came across a photo of the Governor’s young nieces taken in his office after his “State of the State” address (posing with his sons; full photo here): Following more than 200 overwhelmingly positive comments under this post, at about 10 p.m. on January 23, Hosking made a now-infamous comment: “Who are these inbred dumbasses?“
Like other prominent Walker haters (for example, “Segway Boy” and “The Crying Man“), Hosking appears to crave attention — which is exactly what she got, thanks to Vicki McKenna, one of Wisconsin’s leading conservative talk-radio hosts.
Vicki McKenna
Vicki broke the news that Hosking isn’t some random moonbat, but a public school employee — indeed, a nurse assistant charged with the care of “special needs” children (or “dumbasses,” as Hosking might call them).
Vicki discussed Hosking during her January 24 morning show on Milwaukee’s WISN (the Indefatigable Ms. McKenna also hosts an afternoon show on Madison’s WIBA).
In her discussion, Vicki connected Hosking’s vile comment about Gov. Walker’s young nieces to several disturbing aspects of “progressive” thinking, in particular, the Left’s fervent efforts to dehumanize and bully its opponents, and its lack of concern for basic decency.

Excerpt 1 (runs 1:06): Vicki describes Hosking’s vile comment and reports that Hosking works with children, as a nurse assistant at a middle school.
There are these two cute little girls, one of them looks like she might be missing a couple of her teeth. You know, getting ready for the adult teeth to come in — looks so cute!
And a woman who is employed as a nursing assistant for “special needs” kids at Sennett Middle School in Madison posts, under this picture: “Who are these inbred dumbasses?” . . .
They’re two beautiful little girls, smiling for the camera, looking cute — they got their little parkas on — and a woman who is tasked with handling “special needs” kids in a school calls them “inbred dumbasses.”
Can someone — can you left-wingers, I mean, can you explain this to me?
Excerpt 2 (runs 0:26): Vicki asks leftists to explain this behavior.
This is what you guys do. Would you explain to me why it — is it really some kind of thing you learn in college?
I mean, does that explain everything from porn teacher in Middleton to — her name’s Debbie Hosking — to a nurse, a nursing assistant dealing with “special needs” kids in a middle school in Madison? Does that explain you people?
Excerpt 3 (runs 2:04): Vicki explains why the Left believes it’s okay to dehumanize little children.
It’s fine if you’re doing this to Governor Walker. But it’s not fine to go after little girls. It isn’t fine to go after kids, is it?
I have never, ever once — and I have seen some stuff that has come from the right, and I’m not real proud of (not that much, though). But I’ve seen some. Never once have I seen President Obama’s kids trashed. Never once had I seen Jim Doyle‘s [previous Democrat governor] kids or grandkids or nieces and nephews trashed. Never once.
Kids are off limits! Chelsea Clinton wasn’t trashed. Kids are off limits! Aren’t they?
No, not if you’re the liberal. ‘Cuz remember what they think. They have to believe that they’re fighting what amounts to a holy war against evil. And very much the way they believe that just simply by being not like them — being conservative — you are evil, they believe the same about the children of conservatives as well.
This is the way — the Left quite honestly, when they see conservatives, dehumanizes them, debases them, in their minds, so that —
And I’ll bet you if I ran into this nurse — when I ran into her at farmer’s market or on the street — she’d probably be fairly polite, until she found out I was conservative! But she’d probably be fairly polite.
But if you believe you’re fighting evil, and you believe your enemies are the evil incarnate, because you’ve replaced faith in God in your life with your politics, I suppose it explains why you would call two beautiful, shiny-faced, smiling little girls “imbred dumbasses” — as somebody who supposedly should be trusted to speak, and to work on behalf of “special needs” kids. Wow.
Excerpt 4 (runs 3:21): Vicki points out that Debbie Hosking’s behavior is just another example of leftists bullying their opponents, even if it means picking on the weak.
It’s never okay — I don’t care if you’re a “special needs” nurse, or not, at a school. You don’t do this to kids. They’re not your political pawns.
But for the Left — and we’ve seen this in Wisconsin. We’ve seen it nationally. I mean, the jokes about Sarah Palin’s Downs Syndrome son just are — they make you want to retch. Any person with a soul looks at that and wants to retch.
What the unionistas did to the Special Olympians and then, at another event Governor Walker was at, which dealt with “special needs” adults and kids, and they tried to shake the walls out of a building at a banquet he was at — scared the you-know-whats out of the kids.
Any person with a soul looks upon that, and looks upon people who are — they’re weaker. They’re the people who get picked on. And to see for the purpose of poltics picking on people who already get picked on — it’s all about bullying, right?
Isn’t that the new thing everybody cares about, is bullying? Really? See, everything that comes out of a leftist’s mouth is steeped in hypocrisy so totally that the moment they say something I reject it out of hand as being hypocritical.
The Left doesn’t care about bullying — they’re bullies! I got many examples of the Left being bullies today, and examples of left-wing hypocrisy.
They’re bullying James O’Keefe.
They’re bullying Dinesh D’Souza.
They’re bullying the Friends of Abe in Hollywood.
They’re bullying little groups here — they’re bullying Wisconsin Right to Life.
They’re bullying conservative talk radio.
They’re bullying people who support 501(c)(4)s that are conservative.
I mean, that’s just what you are! You bully little “special needs” kids.
You bully Governor Walker’s nieces. You’re bullies!
And you know what? What do you do to bullies? What’s the best thing to do to bullies? What is the very best thing to stop bullying? Punch them in the nose, and make their nose bleed!
On the playground, right? What’s the one thing — you’re not allowed to do it anymore, because we have a zero tolerance for violence — the one thing to stop harassment and bullying on the playground was to haul off and clobber the bully right between the eyes, so that blood gushed out of his nose.
My dad taught me that. I betcha your dads taught you that.
And it stops. Because bullies always count on nobody fighting back. And so that works here as well. And so, folks might be tempted to say, “Oh, ignore it. Ignore disgusting comments about children. Ignore it.” No!
If you ignore it, that is a message to the Left that the tactic is working! Just like it’s a message to the bully, if you never fight back — and I know, sometimes you can’t — but that’s why people keep getting picked on.
Reaction to Vicki’s broadcast was swift, with many of her listeners posting comments on Scott Walker’s Facebook page, condemning Hosking’s bullying of his young nieces (click here for full comment thread). A sample (with links to screenshots):
Sheryl Lee Petro to Hosking: “what in God’s name is wrong with you? Wow . . . you work with children and/or even the public? . . . You crazy liberals never cease to amaze me. You’re a disgrace!”
Jamie Taylor posted Sennett Middle School’s phone number and suggested people call and politely ask Hosking to apologize.
Margie Paczesny to Hosking: “You are just another example of what is so horribly wrong with our public school system. Such low, low standards in the hiring process. Why you are allowed around kids, with all your hate for them, is beyond me.” She suggested that everyone call Sennett Middle School and demand an explanation of why people like Hosting are hired. Later she reported: “Just called Sennett and left a strong but polite voicemail with the principal. Wonder if he’ll call me back. Doubtful anything will be done unless more people stand up and demand higher standards for our kids in this union ‘blob’ of a system.”
Christopher Lee posted that he’d “be calling Sennett Middle School on Monday morning” because he will not tolerate such “vile behavior.”
Gordon E. Lang, M.D., to Hosking: “You should not be a nurse at a middle school and should be fired.”
Heather Daly Bronnson joined in “demanding her explanation and apology. . . . She wanted to be vile and did it at the expense of little innocent children . . . the ones she should be protecting at her job . . . it really does make you wonder what she is calling the students she is supposed to be helping. . . . Are they getting her attention if she is thinking vile things about them?“
Round Three of the barrage of criticism directed at Debbie Hosking for bullying Scott Walker’s young nieces began at 4 p.m. on January 24, when Mark Belling of Milwaukee’s WISN — the godfather of conservative talk radio in Wisconsin, and a frequent guest host on the Rush Limbaugh Show — followed up on Vicki’s coverage.
Mark Belling
To listen to the complete eleven-minute segment from Mark’s show, click or download here. Some excerpts (with a partial transcript):
Excerpt 1 (runs 2:04): Mark provides basic background, and explains why Hosking’s vile comment merits discussion.
A woman who is school nurse in a Madison public school — her title is school nurse assistant — posted a response so unbelievably vile that it almost demands comment, because it shows, I think, not only how crude and rude and lewd some of these Walker haters are.
It shows how Scott Walker has just driven them to the point of becoming true public fools. And it didn’t stop with the protests in Madison.
Excerpt 2 (runs 1:46): Mark describes Hosking’s stupid and vile comment.
Under the photo of the Governor’s two kids, who are now older boys, and two girls, who are younger, this woman, who’s a nurse assistant at Sennett School in Madison, public school, her name is Debbie Hosking — we know this because she signed her post — this is her comment: “Who are these inbred dumbasses?” . . .
Now first of all, for somebody who works in a public school, for that to be their comment — “inbred dumbasses” — in general, boy, what an intelligent person this is.
This is a photo of . . . the two girls are . . . they look like to me . . . anywhere between 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 — two cute kids, and they got the cutest smiles that could be. . . .
I suspect for the nieces, to be on the Governor’s Facebook page, after an event like this where they were invited, is a big deal! Some adult — somebody who works in school with kids — “inbred dumbasses!”
Excerpt 3 (runs 2:25): Mark says Hosking’s “psycho” behavior is an example of how Walker haters have been driven “crazy” by their inability to criticize Walker on substance, because his reforms undeniably worked.
To think that our tax money is going to pay a slug like this . . . and I’ll call her a “slug” — she’s going to call the nieces of Governor Walker “inbred dumbasses” — little children — I’ll call her a “slug,” and feel good about myself for doing so, because I think I’m pretty accurate. . . .
I’ve got a few comments that I want to make. Obviously this woman doesn’t like Scott Walker. Duh! What was she doing on Walker’s Facebook page, then? This on the Facebook page of the governor! What’s she doing trolling around Walker’s Facebook page anyway? She was probably there to make an obnoxious comment anyhow.
But out of all the obnoxious comments, rather than disagreeing with something out of the “State of the State,” and so on, she goes and takes a shot at the family!
There is something about Walker — and I know what it is, I’ll explain it in a minute — that has driven lefties to this, even by their own standards, remarkable level of almost psycho behavior! This is psycho! You’re lashing out at his nieces and sons? What are you, crazy? The answer’s yes: she must be crazy! A woman who works with kids!
I know what it is. I know what drives them crazy about Walker: it’s that all of his stuff has worked! They can’t attack Act 10 anymore. Schools didn’t close. We didn’t find any deficits. The budgets are balanced. We’re able to cut our taxes. All of our services are wonderful. They hate Walker for what he did, but they can’t criticize Walker for what he did, because it all undeniably worked!
So they lash out in the only way they can. You know, sometimes, you know, you get a liberal on the program here, they’ll start sputtering and hemming and hawing. Usually they try to change the subject — okay, I get them on the defensive and make a point they can’t respond to. This woman typed this out!
Excerpt 4 (runs 1:36): Summing up, Mark predicts Hosking will be supported by her leftist allies.
And I’m glad she did. As despicable as it is. Because we now — and I don’t suspect she’ll get any heat at all from this, from the Madison school district, from the other Madison teachers; they’ll all pat her on the back for saying it, proving my point that Walker has made all of these people so frustrated that they literally have lost their marbles.
But another reason I’m glad it’s up there is that so all the rest of you understand just exactly where the lefties in this state are coming from — how low they have gotten, and how obsessed they are going to be with trying to beat Walker, to the point that they would say such unbelievably crude, horrible things about his children and his two little nieces. . . .
This is a posting on the Facebook page, for heaven’s sake. School nurse assistant. . . . “Inbred dumbasses.” That’s what she wrote!

As a student at Sennett Middle School, I can assure you Ms. Hosking is nice, helpful, and would never call one of us students that. I agree, it was an inexuseable behavior that she targeted two little girls, but you can not account what one person did for our whole political party? As a child, because I am liberal, does that make me a God hating devil abomination? Although I am an atheist, no I am not!! I do not hate god and I am not a bad person. Conservatives are not evil, thy are just, IN MY OPINION on the wrong end of the spectrum.
What Ms. Hosking does in her private life should not account for her job. She should not be fired. She is a good nurse. She was rude. You all can be too. Bye,
Cam, house 5 sennett middle school
Jesus! Get a life. Apart from the inconsistencies and petty hypocrisies at the start of this piece, I am dumbfounded that someone would meticulously transcript and annotate such vile commentators. Apologies if you have a learning disability such as autism. In which case I understand, but cannot condone your obsession.
As far as I can see, Ms. Hosking was been insensitive and abusive to two innocent children. Thats it. End of story.
